Her Love Life
When Harriet Tubman was twenty-five she married John Tubman. She sewed a trousseau (t-r-oo-S-OH-Z) as a wedding gown. She said that she was used to gripping logs, not a holding a tiny needle. When they got married she moved in with John, still having her visions. She always told him about them and he always thought she was crazy. One night she told him about her dream of being free and that he should go North with her, but John was already a free man and didn't want to risk his life for something he already had. He kept telling her to stop and that he wasn't going, but she wouldn't stop sharing her dream. He said that if she left he would tell her master right away. So that night when she was sure John was sleeping, she snuck off down the road to freedom.
