Our Baby Girl is Growing Up So Fast!
When Harriet was twelve she followed a runaway slave and the overseer. The slave thinking he could hide ran into a dry foods store. When Harriet caught up the overseer saw Harriet and said "STOP HIM!", or something along the lines of that. Like I said, they didn't keep great records so it was something like that. Harriet, being only twelve at the time didn't know what else to do but block the doorway. The overseer, seeing that the slave was getting away, grabbed a two-pound weight and chucked it at the advancing slave but he missed the slave and hit Harriet instead. When Harriet got home everybody thought she was going to die. She had a deep bloody hole in the side of her head. She was in a comma for a week, but when she woke up she said she was ready for the fields again. After that everybody called her Harriet. Back then you usually earned your middle name when you were grown up, but Harriet earned hers for her bravery. This injury would effect her for the rest of her life. She would get sleep spells or randomly falling asleep except she couldn't control them. She would also get vivid visions.
